Athena Communications’ latest webinar, Centering Healing in Systems Change, brought together Tammy Belton-Davis and Dominique Samari for a thoughtful conversation on the relationship between personal healing and sustainable systems change work.
The discussion challenged participants to rethink healing not as separate from leadership or transformation work, but as essential to it. Dominique Samari shared how the unresolved patterns we carry individually often become embedded in organizational culture, shaping how teams communicate, respond to stress, and navigate change.
Throughout the conversation, participants explored the shift from reacting to responding, learning practical tools to create space between stress and action. Through grounding exercises, breathwork, and reflection practices, the session emphasized that sustainable impact requires sustainable people.
The webinar also examined how organizations can intentionally integrate healing-centered practices into leadership, strategy, and workplace culture and create environments rooted in trust, reflection, accountability, and wholeness.
A key takeaway from the conversation was simple but powerful: “We cannot build new systems with the same patterns that created the old ones. Healing is not a detour from the work. It is part of the work.”
